Cassandra forms an unlikely friendship with Val and Agnes when they found out that they are being cheated on by the same man. Soon after, Cassandra gets fooled again by a man who left her pregnant with Iris. Iris grows up helping her mother until Cassandra finally meets and weds Oliver, whom Cassandra explains to Iris as the man guaranteed by certain signs. These signs Iris experiences years later with her best friend Ali.
